Tony has always had a life long passion for sailing starting in Thames as a regional P-Class Tanner Cup representative for the Waikato area equally OK dinghy regional representative in the world championships. Meanwhile he has been a past flag officer for the Thames Sailing Club. Then racing and cruising with family an Alan Wright design Pacer and for the last 26 years owned and successfully raced the now modified Ross 930 Fast Company. Tony has now joined Westhaven identity Graham Murray with Westhaven Marine Brokers, having been an already established Marine Broker for many years. Tony and Graham offer a wealth of experience especially to entry level yachties and newly arrived boaties wishing to take advantage of our Harbours and Gulf.
Graham Murray already started sailing at an early age off Milford Beach in Idle Alongs, Zeddies, and unrestricted Q class yachts. He has been a long standing member of both P.C.C. & R.N.Z.Y.S. for over 30 years. In that time he has owned several keel boats, sailed 5 offshore races etc. and now currently owns a converted fishing boat as a launch “Maria”, although he still sails and races regularly as crew on friends yachts. He is a very practical person and as a partner with Tony Smith in the new business venture they have started, Westhaven Marine Brokers Ltd., bring to the Westhaven waterfront a different style of brokerage as they are both hands on “out there doing it ” all year round, participating in the local clubs racing and cruising.
